High volume of traffic expected on all FS roads

Free State traffic officers are deployed on all provincial major roads as traffic is expected to increase.

According to head of traffic Nako Ramotsoto, they are expecting high volume of traffic from all provincial and national roads starting from Sunday morning. He advised motorists to rest after driving every 200 km, to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol and maintain the normal speed that is determined by all roads.

Ramotsoto explained that some motorists are reckless by unnecessarily over speeding and overtaking one another on the road.

“People will be going back and others will be returning from taking their children to school. There will be a high volume of traffic but as we are saying, we will be on the road executing our project and programmes as determined and planned. I think next week, starting from Monday, we should be back to normal traffic on all our major roads,” he said.

Ramotsoto also cautioned pedestrians to avoid walking under the influence of alcohol and added that they also cause fatalities on the road.
