Helping to heal

“I used to think the worst thing in life was to end up all alone. It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people that make you feel all alone” – Robin Williams.
With the sad news of the tragic death of famous actor Robin Williams, I was suddenly very aware of the deeper meaning of his quote. The actor who brought so much laughter into many people’s lives. How could he feel so alone that he decided to end it all? We should never be deceived by people’s appearance. Many people who surround us look happy and content, when deep inside they are feeling extremely lonely.
Proverbs 12v25: “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad”(Amplified). As people who should be serving others, it is our responsibility to become aware of the feelings of those around us. We are told to encourage them and help them see that there is hope. Maybe you are so discouraged yourself that you feel it impossible to encourage others. This is the secret to true happiness – serving others even when we don’t feel like it. Let no one who crosses our path ever say that they were feeling alone and we did not show the smallest act of kindness to encourage them.
