Heidedal teen murder suspect to appear in court

The 21-year-old man accused of stabbing the 14-year-old school pupil, Elvino de Jager, in Heidedal in Bloemfontein will on Wednesday 9 October 2019 appear in court.

De Jager died in hospital after the incident this weekend.

The 21-year-old man stands accused of murder after he allegedly stabbed De Jager after a fight broke out between the two. He is said to have stabbed the deceased in his back with a knife while the school pupil was fleeing the scene. OFM News previously reported that the police spokesperson, Sam Makhele, tells OFM News that the stabbing incident of a 14-year-old from Heidedal took place near a house in the Tom Swartz area. Makhele confirmed that the police are investigating the death of De Jager following the incident.

Makhele further told OFM News that, according to information, the victim had a knife with him and the suspect went inside his parents’ house where he also took a knife and stabbed the victim in the back. He added that the victim was transported to a local hospital in Bloemfontein where he later died. The murder of De Jager follows after many reports of rife violence in and outside the schools of South Africa that claimed the lives of at least three school pupils within 24 hours.
