The Bloemfontein professional golfer, Alex Haindl, claimed his second win on the Sunshine Tour in three months by winning the Vodacom Origins of Golf at the Sishen Golf Club in Kathu.
Haindl carded a final round of level-par 72 to win on three under par. This was one stroke clear of Hennie Otto, Peter Karmis, Ockie Strydom and the up-and-coming Jayden Schaper.
The win was Haindl’s second on the Origins of Golf series, following his maiden victory in 2018.
This was also his fifth Sunshine Tour of his career. “It feels great. It’s always great to win and to feel like you’re getting the reward for the hard work you’re putting in, ” Haindl said after his season victory.
The Bloemfonteiner added that he enjoys tougher courses, and it certainly was as his winning total was one of the highest in the history of the Origins of Golf.
“I’ve never been the biggest fan of tournaments that are just putting competitions. I like the tougher golf courses. It was very tricky out there. I tried to just focus on my own game and told myself that whatever the others did, I had no control over.” – MORGAN PIEK
