Kimberley. – Heated discussions were heard in court today when the defence’s Willem Coetzee cross-examined Lieutenant Andre McAnda in the Griekwastad triple murder trial in Northern Cape High Court in Kimberley.
McAnda is the forensic expert who processed the crime scene on Naauwhoek Farm where the Steenkamp family were shot dead in April last year. Most of the morning was spent putting exhibit numbers before the court, as well as other technicalities.
During Coetzee’s cross-examination of McAnda, he hammered him on typing mistakes in the forensic statements handed in. He asked McAnda if he could see his crime scene notes, but McAnda refused, saying the documents were privileged.
State prosecutor Hannes Cloete asked Judge Frans Kgomo for a recess, so the matter regarding the documents could be sorted out. The case resumes at 14h15.
