Gospel singer pleads guilty



South African Gospel singer who was accused of rape pleads guilty.

According to police spokesperson Martin Xuma, Gospel singer Sechaba Pali (32) pleaded guilty and was found guilty on Tuesday by the Ladybrand Regional Court for having consensual sex with a minor on 18 and 19 January 2012.

“He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment solely suspended. During early last year Pali had consensual sex with a 14 year old girl at Tweespruit on the 18 January. He also had consensual sex with her the following day on the 19 January in Welkom,” he says.

Xuma adds that a case of rape was later opened and Pali was arrested and granted bail of R 6 000.after spending seven days behind bars. He says his passport was confiscated by the police in the process and he was given strict conditions.

“Magistrate J Koekemoer told him that he will be enlisted on the sexual offenders register and he must never work with children in his entire life. Pali was further told that in the next five years he must never appear before any court on the same offence,” says Xuma.
