A good Samaritan from C-Section in Botshabelo, Teboho Molorane, together with Steven and Kathleen van der Hoof from Stevie Wonders Tours in Paarl, donated 60 pairs of school shoes to learners of the Tlotisang Intermediate School recently.
Molorane, a former learner at the school, said they feel part of the community. The idea of donating school shoes started in Cape Town. It was their way of giving back to the community and ensuring that needy learners also feel special.
“People spend too much money on alcohol and entertainment – money that could be used to change the lives of young children. We owe our success to the community where we come from. Although I work and live in Cape Town, Botshabelo is my home.
“Our plan is to help these learners to enjoy their time at school because education is the key that opens many doors,” said Molorane.
He added that they are happy to have the opportunity to impact the lives of others in a good way.
“The kids can now attended school feeling comfortable. We are thankful. It will surely grow the learners’ self-esteem. Most of the learners at this school come from homes where both parents are unemployed and fully dependent on the government’s social grant.”
