Goldfields FET college students still on strike

GALOOME SHOPANE Students at Goldfield FET College in Welkom are still on strike following their disapproval of an 80% attendance requirement policy for them to enter into the exam room.

Lynette Fourie, director at the college says both campuses in Doorn Park and Thabong are still closed.

Fourie says all students who enrolled in 2013 signed registration form, which clearly stated that the requirement for entrance into exams was 80% attendance.

She says students want a zero percent attendance policy.

“There were no classes today and tomorrow we are having a meeting with the SRC,” says Fourie.

She says “we are busy with the mediation process.”

The strike started last month.
