GALLERY: Carols by Candlelight a huge success

The SPAR OFM Carols by Candlelight was a huge success with more than 10 000 people in attendance on Wednesday evening (30/11). This as the most magical charity night under the stars made a comeback for the first time since the pandemic.

“Carols is an institution. The event is loved by the beautiful people of Bloemfontein. Thousands have attended over a 15 year period, and I thank our city for supporting and being so giving to our charities,” said Central Media Group CEO, Nick Efstathiou.

The stage, set at the Kovsie cricket oval at the University of the Free State’s Bloemfontein campus, was graced with performances by Demi-Lee Moore, Ruhan du Toit, Elvis Blue, and the Mzansi Youth Choir.

The night aimed to collect quality toys, care packages, or stationery for children in need this festive season. Those in attendance were asked to drop these goods off as an “entry fee”.

Bloemfonteiners opened up their hearts and filled over 100 boxes for Child Welfare Bloemfontein and Childline Free State. Besides all the gifts, cash donations of over R16 000 were also collected at the event.

“The SPAR OFM Carols by Candlelight 2022 in Bloemfontein was a great success with an estimated 10 000 listeners attending. The wonderful magic brought about by the Mzansi Youth Choir, Elvis Blue, Demi-Lee Moore, and Ruhan du Toit, made for a long-awaited festive experience that everyone enjoyed,” said OFM Programme Manager, Tim Thabethe.

According to OFM News, if you couldn’t make it last night you can still support Kinderwelsyn Bloemfontein and Childline Free State. For further donations visit
