GALOOME SHOPANE The department of correctional services has confirmed that it has issued a number of breaches to the security company, G4S.
Correctional service’s Joe Maako says they have issued about 29 breaches and there’s a possibility of the number increasing if the situation continues as it has not been normalised.
He says the breaches include security issues and other matters like non-performance by the company. Maako says they have issued the notices and are waiting for the security company to reply.
“The recent situation has really not been acceptable to us. There have too many issues of violence which we are not happy about.”
Mangaung maximum correctional centre also known as G4S has been hit by a spate industrial strike by warders, and inmates attacking warders with one female warder being held hostage earlier this week.
