North West Premier, Supra Mahumapelo, sent a delegation of Heads of departments to Nkwewu’s family on Friday, where funeral arrangements were discussed.

Spokesperson for the Premier’s office in the North West, Brian Setswambung, said a date for the MEC’s memorial service will also be decided this weekend.

“The delegation met with the family and basically offered the family the type of support that they would need throughout the period leading to the funeral. Engagement between the delegation of the government and the family resolved that there should be a subsequent meeting on Sunday afternoon, after the family shall have consulted with the church to which the MEC was affiliated,” he said.

Setswambung says the programme for the funeral will then be finalised after Sunday’s meeting and it will incorporate input from the family, church, North West government as well as the MEC’s political party, the African National Congress (ANC) in the North West.

Deputy Director General of Administration at the North West premier’s office, Aubrey Senne, also died in a car accident near Tarlton on the N14.
