The Free State Symphony Orchestra (FSSO) will once again return to the stage at the Cathedral of St Andrew and St Michael in Bloemfontein, this time with South Africa’s Yolisa Ngwexana, Teresa de Wit, Albertus Engelbrecht and Josh Faber as the soloists.
The FSSO’s Easter Vocal Concert promises to be an uplifting and touching musical experience with South Africa’s finest singers and the country’s foremost baroque specialist, conductor and harpsichordist Erik Dippenaar.
According to the FSSO’s Daniel Boico, to celebrate Easter, they will present sublime music. “Please join us for a beautiful evening of song in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and selections from Handel’s Messiah.”
Bloemfontein will also get to hear Albertus Engelbrecht, a German lyric tenor, who teaches at the University of the Free State and has sang in opera and operetta roles, such as Caramello in Strauss’ Eine Nacht in Venedig and Don Basilio in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro.
The concert will take place on Saturday, 9 April, at 19:30. Limited tickets are available for R120 each at phoenixpro. co.za, or at Pacofs’ booking office.
