FSSO musicians return to the stage

Free State Symphony Orchestra’s artistic director and CEO designate Daniel Boico

The Free State Symphony Orchestra’s (FSSO) first concert for 2022 promises to be an enjoyable musical experience. On Saturday, 12 March, they will return to the stage at the Sand du Plessis Theatre in Bloemfontein with their inaugural concert of the 2022 Season.

The concert includes Conrad Asman’s Igniting Kites and Flying Fireworks, Takashi Yoshimatsu’s Cyberbird concerto for alto saxophone, percussion and piano, as well as Georges Bizet’s Carmen Suites No. 1 & 2.

Artistic Director and CEO designate Daniel Boico says FSSO is thrilled to begin the 2022 Season with a full-length in-person concert. “The inaugural concert will comprise of what is great about live music – exceptional talent and moving music. We will present to you, our loyal audience, beautiful, exciting works of music, with the participation of South Africa‘s finest musicians, with soloists Josie McClure on the saxophone, Emilio Lorenzo on a percussion battery, and Luis Magalhães on the piano.”

Regarding Covid-19 regulations, everyone in the audience will be expected to wear masks, and the seating has been arranged to maintain social distancing.
