This comes after officials tried to meet with the management on Tuesday, to discuss their working conditions. Instead, the public order police was called in and workers were accused of staging an illegal strike.
Provincial Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, said in an answer to media questions, employees jumped the gun and did not follow internal procedures.
He said labour relation officers were also called in to address the workers. Officials are however adamant that they were not on strike and are unhappy because they have to work in appalling conditions.
Mvambi says the department is willing to listen to the officials and find a way forward.
