Police spokesperson, Stephen Thakeng, says Dimakatso Maxhasa stabbed Montoedi Nzuza on the neck with a broken bottle and Nzuza was later certified dead by the emergency personnel. This case comes in the midst of a serious talk around the gender-based violence against women and children that has since forced president, Cyril Ramaphosa to call for a special joint sitting in the National Assembly tomorrow. Thakeng says Maxhasa’s case was postponed until 25 September 2019 for her bail application.
“On Saturday 14 September 2019 at about 15:20, a 26-year-old suspect, who is also the wife of the deceased, was allegedly sleeping at the house when the deceased entered the house. He woke her up and that’s when the argument started. It is not clear what the argument was all about,” he says.
He adds that Investigating Officer Sergeant Moleme Phakoe later arrested the suspect and charged her with murder.
“Station Commander of Bothaville, Colonel Disebo Tshabalala, applauded Phakoe on his good work by ensuring that the suspect face the law,” Thakeng further says.
