Eskom’s Stefanie Janse van Rensburg says the electricity supply to these three towns, including its townships and rural customers, will be interrupted from 15h00 until 18h00 on Wednesday 11 September 2019. She says a fault at the Springfontein Substation has led to an emergency outage.
Van Rensburg has, however, apologised to residents for the inconvenience and further urged consumers to treat all electrical lines, sockets and appliances as live and dangerous at all times.
This comes only a few hours after residents of Mangaung were subjected to a water crisis after Bloem Water decided to reduce the water supply to residents to the 30% threshold. But the Free State High Court has since ordered the water board to restore water to residents with immediate effect on Tuesday after the troubled Metro Municipality went to court.
OFM News previously reported that debt of R449 million allegedly owed to the water board by the metro is at the centre of a fierce court battle. Yesterday’s court outcome has since prompted the Water Board to issue another court petition for 19 September 2019.
