One of the Free State Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs’ biggest money spinners, the annual game auction, will be taking place online this year.
MEC Benny Malakoane says the live auction, that attracts international bidders every year, and raked in more than R15.4m last year, is not going to take place this year.
He says this is due to the drought conditions that have effected prices.
Malakoane says Springbok, Wildebeest, Sable and Buffalo will be on auction for hunting packages and carcass sales.
