30-year-old, Tebobo Jonas Lebajoa, was recently sentenced to life behind bars by the Botshabelo Regional court, this after he was found guilty of raping a 58-year-old woman.
The incident took place on 18 December 2015 when Lebajoa gained access to the victim’s house, which is located in Section K in Botshabelo, through a broken window. According to police spokesperson, Colonel Thandi Mbambo, the suspect threatened the victim who was asleep at the time with a knife and raped her before fleeing the scene.
“A case of rape was opened for investigation. It was assigned to Detective Sergeant Lebohang Mohai of Selosesha Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS),” said Mbambo.
The suspect was apprehended on March 2018 for another alleged rape incident at Section H in the town where he was later released to allow the continuation of investigation.
He was later positively linked through DNA sample and rearrested on 18 May 2019.
