FS scholars top of the pops

SABRINA DEAN – The Free State has the highest matric pass rate for 2013, with 87.4% of matriculants attaining the National Senior Certificate.
Top achievers from across the province are already gathering at the Boet Troskie Hall at the Central University of Technology in Bloemfontein for the provincial results briefing by Education MEC Tate Makgoe. The Top 100 will then also be congratulated during the annual “Well Done Function”.
Inge Kestlmeier from Bethlehem Voortrekker got eight distinctions and is planning to study B.Com Accounting at the University of Pretoria. She told Bloemfontein Courant she doesn’t believe standards have dropped. “We worked through all the question papers from last year and the year before, and I can honestly say I don’t think our exams were any easier. In fact our Maths second question paper was a thriller,” she says.
