FS Rugby mourns one of its own

Former vice president of the Free State Rugby Union, Cedric Carson, has died after a short illness.

Carson played a critical role in the development of the sport, and held many positions with various teams.

OFM News reports that the Free State Rugby Union’s President, Jerry Segwaba, expressed the union’s heartfelt condolences to Carson’s family and friends.

He described him as a man who was not only passionate about rugby, but also a man who paved the way for many rugby players and helped shape their careers.

Hundreds of social media users have taken to Facebook and Twitter to express their sadness at his passing.

Many continue to describe him as a humble, selfless man who lived for sport and celebrated how it united people from all walks of life.

Carson was the first Chairperson of the Bloemfontein Crusaders.

He was considered instrumental in the integration of clubs under the Free State Rugby Union.
