FS roads closed following heavy rains

The Department of Police, Roads and Transport in the Free State says some roads in the province are still temporary closed (on Wednesday) due to water damage caused by heavy rain this week.

Traffic enforcement spokesperson, Kabelo Moloabi, says the R720 between Koppies and Edenville and the R82 between Kroonstad and Koppies are still closed for traffic.

He says traffic enforcement will re-open the roads as soon as it receives the go-ahead that it is safe to drive. Meanwhile the R721 between Vredefort and Kroonstad was re-opened late yesterday.

Moloabi says a part of the road was initially closed for construction. The problem is the de-tour to avoid the road was damaged by water, but contractors did some repair work.
