The Free State will be presenting investment opportunities in mining, manufacturing, agro-processing, technology and green economy to potential investors at the Investment Conference, which will be held on 24 October 2019 at Oliewenhuis Art Museum in Bloemfontein.
The conference will be hosted bt the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, under the theme “Promoting investment in the Free State through partnerships”, with the objective of this conference being to present high impact projects to potential investors.
The FS provincial government will also launch the 2019 Investment Prospectus aimed at attracting inward investments to the Free State in order to grow the economy and create jobs.
The Free State delegation will be led by Premier Sisi Ntombela and MEC Makalo Mohale, who will talk about investor ready projects and the support from the Free State Government.
According to available statistics, foreign investment in the Free State totalled R8.4 billion in 2017. Furthermore, the province has achieved the status of being a net exporter of goods. In this regard, the exports from Free State Province amounted to R7. 64 billion and imports to R5.29 billion in 2018, resulting in a positive trade balance of R2.35 billion. It is estimated that the Free State Province had a total Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of R 242 billion in 2018.
