Non-governmental Organisations that refuse to transform will not be financially assisted. Sisi Ntombela, Free State social development MEC says her department is not prepared to help any NGO, especially old age homes, that refuse to be more interracial.
“We have some NGOs which they totally don’t want to transform. They will always make excuses that their lists are full, so we not prepared to help them. It’s twenty years of democracy, we can’t keep on assisting people that refuse to be transformed, we want to see NGOs that will have all races,” she says.
In addition to delivering her budget speech at the Free State Legislature, Ntombela says the department will work with SA Social Security Agency and the South African Police to intensify campaigns against the exploitation of elder citizens by loan sharks and criminals.
