Free State MEC of Public Works and Infrastructure Sam Mashinini on Wednesday visited several renovated projects in Bloemfontein that will see growth in tourism, economic and social interaction.
Mashinini says a common problem noted was vandalism and poor maintenance, for which the respective management teams must take full responsibility.
Among the sites visited were a new hostel at Bainsvlei Combined School – which cost the department over R37 million – as well as a new ICU facility at Pelonomi Hospital that will have 16 new beds.
Other sites visited were the newly renovated Rotating Restaurant atop the CR Swart Building as well as Soetdoring Nature Reserve.
The aim of the tour was to achieve and highlight government priorities outlined in the 2009-2014 Medium Term Strategic Framework.
