The Free State Government will be hosting the Free State Youth Expo from 27 to 28 June 2019 at the Dr Rantlai Molemela Stadium in Mangaung. The provincial government has organised the event as part of a broad programme to commemorate Youth Month and the 43rd anniversary of the 1976 Soweto uprisings, under the theme: “25th Year of Democracy: A celebration of Youth Activism”.
Setting the tone for the expo will be a round table discussion with industry experts hosted by Premier Sisi Ntombela, with the central force being the entrepreneurial village where 1500 young people will interact with big businesses in search for opportunities. The highlight of the Expo will be the pitching session where three most deserving young people will each walk away with R100 000, R70 000 and R50 000 prizes.
200 people will be exposed to entrepreneurship tools, strategies, best practices, techniques and methodologies that will increase their entrepreneurial capacity at the Women in Transport Summit.
MEC for Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea), Makalo Mohale, will on the main event, speak on the role of youth in the Free State Province: The economic perspective.
The Youth Expo will include exhibitions of various services and products by government departments and entities such as National Youth Development Agency; small businesses, SETAs, etc. and will be the launching pad for renewed and fresh ideas to tackle runaway unemployment among young people.
