FS holds school level Specialization Competition

The Free State Department of Education is hosting the Provincial Final Specializations Competition starting from Friday, 19 July 2019 at 12H30 – 17H30 to Saturday, 20 July 2019 at 08H30 – 13H00.

The department stated that the purpose of the competition is to ensure that schools in the technical and agricultural streams have the facilities to offer: Welding, Automotive, Plumbing and Power Systems as skills development subjects.

Technical and Agricultural education are regarded as scarce skills streams and training of skilled citizens is an urgent priority in South Africa. The contribution to these fields of education is of paramount importance.

A total of 942 learners from Grade 10-11 in 33 participating schools have been registered for the School Level Specialization Competition and 81 mentor educators are involved with learners at school level.

The competition will be held at the following venues:

Opening, closing and prize giving: Free State University, South Campus

Welding: SA Truck Bodies Training Centre

Plumbing: Hodisa Technical High School

Power Systems: Hillside View Campus
