The Department of Arts and Culture convened a national dialogue around the statues that primarily define the country’s heritage landscape and public spaces.

The dialogue created a space to reflect on the current state of the country’s legacy and mechanism of transforming the sector.

Free State Acting MEC of Arts and Culture Mosebenzi Zwane says these dialogues are vital in creating a platform of discussion around the statues and monuments in our country, in order to move forward from the country’s bad history.

During the 2014/2015 Budget Vote Speech, the provincial MEC of department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Mathabo Leeto said the department will officially open the Wesleyan Church, which is the founding venue of the ANC 102 years ago.

She further added that the church is also part of the liberation heritage route of South Africa.
