FS Health to respond to alleged EFF donation rejection

The Free State Health Department is yet to comment on the situation at Nala Hospital in Bothaville this weekend that prompted the EFF in the province to organise a visit to the hospital, with donations in hand.

The Department is looking into the allegations made by the party’s leadership on social media on Monday 23 September, that they received complaints from the community regarding a lack of food and diapers over the weekend, prompting them to organise donations to be delivered on Monday.

It is alleged hospital management rejected the donations, informing the EFF members present that they had not followed procedure. In a moment of defiance EFF Free State leader, Mandisa Makesini, says they then decided to leave the food by the kitchen entrance despite management’s instruction. It is unknown what happened to the food.

The Health Department says it is investigating the matter and will respond to queries thereafter. The EFF, on the other hand, maintains their donation was a reaction to complaints from members of the community alleging there was no food.
