The Free State Government released a statement extending their condolences to those who lost their lives in the fatal accident that left 10 deceased and over 27 others injured.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” said MEC for Community Safety, Roads, and Transport, Jabu Mbalula.
The Free State MEC for Health, Monyatso Mahlatsi, provided an update on the injured people involved in the accident. They are currently in various hospitals receiving treatment.

- P2 (Moderate): 3
- P3 (Slightly Injured): 22
- P4 (Declared Dead On Scene): 10 (Female – 7, Male – 3, including 1 minor)
Five critically injured patients have been taken to the Pelonomi Trauma Unit, while 22 others have been transported to the Stoffel Coetzee Hospital in Smithfield. The deceased are being managed by Forensic Pathology Services in Bloemfontein.
The Premier of the Free State, MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, along with the entire Provincial Exco, is set to visit the injured at the Pelonomi Tertiary Hospital after the conclusion of the Exco meeting.
