FS gang members appear in court for murder

Four suspects recently made an appearance before the Hennenman Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder with the possibility of additional charges. The suspects, Moeko Lekhetho “Fajie” (34), Mpho Pitso “P. Squared” (24), Sipho Gxunyane (27) and Sello Rampai (23) made their appearance on 26 November 2020 when the case was rolled to 27 November 2020 for legal representations while all the suspects remained in custody.

It is alleged that the four suspects are all members of two rival gangs, Makaota and International Junior Portuguese (IPJ). According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, members of the Welkom POP Reaction team were on duty on 24 November 2020 when they followed up on an investigation about a murder incident where the 27-year-old deceased, Moeketsi January, was fatally stabbed. “The deceased sustained 24 stab wounds on his neck and back. It is alleged that it happened on 22 November 2020 at about 14:44. When following up this information, police arrested one suspect, alleged to be a member of Makaota Gang,” said Makhele.

Police members confiscated a brown butcher knife, which was in possession of one of the suspects. “When searching further, three stainless steel knives and one Oukapi knife were found inside the house. Twelve other Oukapi knives were found in the outside toilet, among other six stainless steel knives and one homemade panga. All weapons were confiscated”, concluded Makhele.
