FS first- year student dies


The University of the Free State is saddened by the untimely death of a first-year student who passed on during the course of this weekend on its Qwaqwa campus.

It is alleged that the student’s death is currently being investigated by the South African Police Service.

The student resided on campus and passed on 30 September 2023.

Dr. Martin Mandew, the campus principal, mentions that the University has offered pyscho-social support to the friends and family of the deceased as well as to the students who resided in the residence where the deceased lived.

“We would like to offer our condolences to the family and friends during this very difficult time. They are in our thoughts and prayers as they’re going through this most tragic time.”
