FS Fashion Week starts

FSFW CEO, Candy Smith, says that fashion week is an opportunity to expose local talent to the province and country.

The annual Free State Fashion Week is once again geared up to impress those with a flair for fashion.
The fashion week started in 2015, with the first event held in 2016. It features both local and national designers. This year 45 designers will be taking part in the event, with the theme being “Breaking Boundaries”.
The week begins with exhibitions from 24 to 29 April 2017 at Mimosa Mall. The exhibitions are about all things fashionable, including jewellery, arts and crafts as well as clothing from various designers.
The fashion week offers up-and-coming designers the opportunity to showcase their work alongside established designers, while also receiving the benefit of a mentorship and guidance on how to grow and improve their businesses.
The fashion show will be held in the evenings at 18:00 at Pacofs, starting from 26 to 29 April 2017. Different designers will showcase daily, the more established designers will use the opportunity to spot new talent with the hopes of taking them under their wing for further mentorship.
Chief Executive Officer, Candy Smith, says that this year is exciting as they are bringing in celebrity designers as part of the show.
“We’ve brought in Palesa Makubung from Mantsho. She is a South African designer originally from Kroonstad in the Free State. We also brought in Olebogeng Ledimo from House of Ledimo, who hails from Bloemfontein and is now based in Johannesburg.”
Smith says that with all the new additions to the fashion week, they hope to get the Free State community to embrace the fashion flair and support local talent.
