FS Fashion Week set to boost economy in the province


The spokesperson for the Free State Department of Economic Development says the Free State Fashion week that started in Bloemfontein today will drive the economy in the province. Kgotso Tau says the fashion industry is a serious economic activity and he hopes the event will contribute to more job creation and link with other sectors.

The expo was launched today.

The event, the first for the province will be held over a three day a period with the objective of giving local upcoming designers in the province a platform to showcase their talent. Tau says development is key.

“The industry has got natural link with other sectors, like beauty, health, skincare and haircare. We still have to do a full assessment to measure the impact. Therefore developmental part of the expo is very critical for us,” says Tau.

The theme for the event is “2016 is “Bokgabo” – an indigenous Sesotho word meaning Beauty or Elegance.

The event will come to an end on Saturday.
