Contrary to high speculation Executive Mayor of Thabo Mofutsanyana District in the Eastern Free State, Dr Balekile Mzwanaga will not be appointed as the new HOD of Health in the Free State. Provincial Spokesperson Mondli Mvambi says these are false allegations and Mzwanga will instead be roped in as the health department’s Chief Operating Officer.
“The Executive Council has discussed today and found a resolution that Dr Mzwanga serves as part of the attempts by the provincial government to strengthen the services in the Department of Health,” says Mvambi.
He added that the Free State MEC of Health Dr Benny Malakoane and the HOD Dr David Motau will still occupy their positions.
Furthermore the Department of Treasury will be meeting with the Department of Health to hold discussion around financial constraints within the health.
