FS Covid-19 rises as relaxed restrictions anticipated


There have been about 1069 cases of Covid-19 in the Free State according to the latest report from the Department of Health.

The province has seen a steady increase of cases as there were 976 reported Covid-19 positive cases just the previous day.

According to Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, there have been 318 recoveries in the province so far and only 9 deaths compared to 2 340 deaths across South Africa due to the virus.

“As of today the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases is 124 590. The total number of deaths is 2 340 while the total number of recoveries is 64 111,” he stated on Friday evening.

This as Level 3 restrictions are set to be further relaxed next week. South Africans will be able to have sit-down meals at restaurants for the first time since March 2020 and enjoy public entertainment areas such as casinos and theatres.

On Friday Tourism Minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane, announced regulations for the reopening of these services which include daily records of patrons, delivery people and employees among other guidelines.
