The Lejweleputswa District has seen a rise in Covid-19 related deaths as the majority of fatalities in the Free State have been reported in the region so far.
According to Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, there have been 362 deaths reported in the province to date.
“There have been 362 deaths reported in the province so far, with the highest number reported in the Lejweleputswa District. This means that the provincial case fatality rate is 1.4%,” he stated.
According to reports there was a slight majority of deaths in male patients who were infected with the virus. “Although more females are infected, a near equal proportion of deaths are recorded among males,” explained Mvambi.
This means that 51% of deaths or 184 were reported in male patients in the province, while females make up 60% of infections with 15 568 cases so far.
