FS court division ranked third in SA

The acting Director of Public Prosecutions in the Free State, Advocate Navilla Somaru, says the Free State Court division is ranked third in the country overall for the 2017/18 performance period.

Somaru said this at the National Prosecuting Authority’s network session in Bloemfontein today, where the government agency highlighted some of the successes and challenges it has faced in the 2017/18 financial year. The High Court was ranked fourth nationally, while the District and Regional divisions were ranked second and seventh respectively. Somaru lauded these rankings and attributed their successes to the hard work of all the relevant stakeholders.

She said the success is also due to the dedicated and concerted efforts of the prosecutors, as well as the support of the community and community-based organisations.

The NPA in the province says they will be focusing on all crime against women and children, gang-related crime, stock theft, illicit mining and speeding offences, among others, for the 2018/19 performance period.
