FS and NC geared for #MatricResults

The Northern Cape Department of Education confirms it is all systems go for the announcement of the provincial matric results on Wednesday and it remains hopeful that the province performed well.

Spokesperson Geoffrey van der Merwe says MEC Mac Jack will announce the results of the 2019 class during a press briefing that will be held in his office. He confirms the announcement will be followed by an award ceremony to acknowledge the province’s top-performing Matric learners.

A total of 11 512 full-time candidates and 2 024 part-time candidates sat for the 2019 National Senior Certificate (NSC). Jack previously told OFM News that they are confident the class of 2019 will improve on the 73,3 % pass rate achieved by the province the year before.

“We commend all the learners, parents, principals, invigilators and all the departmental staff for invaluable support and commitment to ensure a credible NSC examination, free of any irregularities,” said Jack.

The Free State Department of Education, led by the long-standing MEC Tate Makgoe, is on the same day expected to hold a similar event at the Central University of Technology (CUT).

Makgoe has also expressed his gratitude to all the learners and parents.

He last year told OFM News he is confident his province will claim the first position countrywide come January 7.
