Fruit of the Spirit – Galatians 5 v 22-23
The eighth fruit is gentleness. This must be one of the most difficult fruits to live by. To show humility to others even when they don’t deserve it can be a challenge.
How many things can you think of that make you angry in one day? Maybe it is standing in line when there is only one person to help the whole queue. Some of us experience road rage as soon as we leave our driveway. To top it all, you have to deal with people who seem incompetent to do their work and marketing calls at the most inappropriate times.
We need to remember that life happens. Getting angry, uptight and rude about the little things are one thing. It is how we deal with these emotions that really count. Do we show humility towards others and try to see how we could lighten their burden? Do we think that meekness is weakness? Jesus was the best example of how to be gentle and put others’ needs before our own. May we all try to follow His example, and focus more on others and less on ourselves. This is guaranteed to bring more joy to our lives.
