Fruit of the Spirit – 4

Fruit of the Spirit – Galatians 5 v 22-23.

The fourth fruit is patience. This is by far the fruit people struggle with most. We all know that asking God to help us with this fruit, situations will arise where our patience is tested. We suddenly have to deal with incompetence, queues or noisy children who want our attention every two minutes.
I remember a group of men telling me that their patience is definitely tested most when they drive in traffic. They decided to see what influence a different attitude would have. Those who managed to stay calm could not believe how much better they could cope with the rest of their day. Sometimes we need to remember that everything does not revolve around having our needs met immediately.
Every impatient moment becomes a weapon in the hands of the enemy. He knows that when we lose the fruit of patience we surely are not portraying the character of Jesus. Let’s be honest, when this happens, we always feel disappointed in ourselves afterwards. An even temper is a wonderful characteristic to have, I can only aspire to become like the example that was set for us on earth by Jesus.
