Free State to host Bafana Bafana in world cup qualifier

The Free State will be the host of the upcoming Bafana Bafana qualifying game against Zimbabwe on 11 June 2024.

The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, together with the Mangaung Metro Municipality (MMM), have entered into a Host Partner Agreement with the South African Football Association (SAFA) for the Metro to host this historic match.

The game will take place at Toyota Free State Stadium and is a 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier. Kick-off time starts at 18h00. The match is set to be historic as it is dated on the same day that Bafana Bafana played their opening game during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in the Free State.

“The department will like to take this opportunity to encourage Free Staters to attend this match in large numbers to support our national team for a decisive victory.

As the Free State province, we are also delighted that Free State born players are part of the national squad selected to play on the 11th June 2024: Mothobi Mvala, Teboho Mokoena and Thapelo Morena,” said Tankiso Zola, spokesperson for the department.

Tickets are available at Ticket Pro; Free State Stadium; PostNet and all Spar outlets.
