Various schools, healthcare facilities and government buildings affected by power failures will receive generators as part of the collaborative efforts between the local government and the People’s Republic of China that donated electricity generators to the South African Government.

The Free State’s generators were received by the MEC for Public Works and Infrastructure, Dibolelo Mance, who mentioned that the donation would assist in eradicating the current challenges within the province. “Services will be delivered promptly without any interruptions,” said Mance.
She further said the generators will also address the energy supply challenges which often result in load-shedding.
As the department aims to prioritise skill development and job creation while building internal capacity, Mance stated that there is an internal team that will lead the distribution and dispatch of the generators. This includes installing solar panels at the various identified sites.
“This is all done to make sure that service delivery does not stop even during the period of load reduction or load-shedding. Equally, we will train and capacitate our young recruits within our Artisan Development Programme to maintain and service these generators and solar panels,” added Mance.
At the 2025 State of the Province Address (21/2), Premier MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae said that the province will continue their efforts to strengthen collaboration with the People’s Republic of China. “Our partnership with the People’s Republic of China has resulted in a donation of 11 electricity generators.”
“We appreciate this move,” the Premier said.
