The ANC in the Free State has welcomed the cabinet reshuffle. ANC provincial spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, told Bloemfontein Courant after Premier Ace Magashule’s announcement that the reshuffle will strengthen the province’s Executive Council in the immediate.
It will enable provincial government to respond to challenges that have risen since the local government elections earlier this year.
“The province has committed a focus to assist municipalities in the Free State so that we can indeed build a developmental government both at provincial and local level.”
He said a government will be built to be among the people and put them at the centre to participate in the programmes which are there to improve their circumstances.
According to Meeko the ANC calls for the Operation Hlasela outreach programme to continue because it brings government to the people.
Operation Hlasela, a campaign that Magashule launched in 2011 for the African National Congress’ election campaign and for service delivery‚ prejudiced other political parties‚ the Public Protector has found.
Meeko said it is reassuring that the reshuffle process is always conducted after broad consultation. It involved Alliances and the respective ANC leagues were consulted. Cathy Dlodlo & Christal-Lize Muller/Courant News
