Forum lends a helping hand

The Forum for Service Delivery brought smiles to learners at Ratau Primary School in Thaba Nchu on Friday.
The organisation handed out 10 school uniforms to needy learners. This comes after the organisation had previously handed over school shoes to 10 learners.
“We target rural schools and the previously disadvantaged as we have realised there is a need for us to assist underprivileged schools. Our organisation here in Thaba Nchu aims at looking after community members struggling but striving for success, and these learners are our future leaders. Taking care of them is our first priority,” said Chilwane Thole.
He added: “We are here today to celebrate Freedom Day with these learners and what we are doing is not for fame. We know the pain of going to school without shoes; we have gone through that anguish. We have decided this year we will be here at Ratau Primary School because we are aware of the situation of some of the learners – we see them every day.
“Education is the key to a better life. By so doing, we also encourage them to be serious and work hard and keep drugs and gangsterism out of our community. With education the war is won.”
One of the parents, Dikedi Dewees, told Voice that they were happy with what the Forum for Service Delivery had done. “Seeing our children smiling and knowing that this coming winter they will be warm and looking like other children in the school, have made us extremely happy as parents. We would like to say thank you on behalf of the parents. I hope the organisation keeps on growing,” she said.
The principal of Ratau Primary School, John Diutlwileng, said they were delighted that the school has been chosen as one of the beneficiaries: “Our school caters for pupils who come from previously disadvantaged areas. The uniforms are going to boost their confidence and they will be able to concentrate in classrooms. We are grateful for the work done here by the Forum for Service Delivery.” – LEBAKENG NKABI
