First open evening at Boyden for the year


The Friends of Boyden invite the public to their open evening on Friday, 15 February at Boyden Observatory on the Maselspoort road. The programme starts at 18:30 for 19:00. There will be a lecture on: Stellar Universes and Constellations in the Visual Arts presented by Prof. DJ (Dirk) van den Berg from the Art History Department at the University of the Free State, followed by stargazing
The open evening will go ahead regardless of the weather. Telescopes will be manned for observation and members of the public will get the opportunity to look at various objects such as planets, star clusters and double stars. Constellations and individual stars will also be pointed out. Bring your binoculars so that you can see more than is visible to the naked eye.
Refreshments will be on sale. Entrance is R30 per car.
