A man believed to be about 55 years of age was airlifted to Pelonomi Hospital after sustaining critical injuries in a collision between two vehicles on the R26 about 25 kilometres from Ficksburg towards the direction of Fouriesburg this morning.
ER24 paramedics and other rescue services attended to the incident and found that four other people sustained moderate injuries after two vehicles collided.
Paramedics also found one car had rolled and landed in the veld while the other was still on the road.
All patients were treated for their injuries and taken to Mediclinic Hoogland and the Ficksburg Provincial Hospital for further medical care.
The exact cause of the incident is unknown. Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
