Festive Season- a time to celebrate

The festive season is fast approaching, and many are gearing up to spend time with their families, take some time to themselves, relax and ring in the new year with clear minds and countless possibilities. Bloemfontein Courant spoke to a few readers about what they are most excited about this festive season.

Simone Proos:

“This festive season, I’m looking forward to ending the year on a high note with the Storie Huis elf workshop and holiday programme. I’m also excited to spend some quality time with my family, enjoy more Christmas traditions and make memories with my husband and our four-legged child.”

Kamohelo Mdakane:

“The most wonderful time of the year is almost here and I’m beyond excited for everything that comes along with the Christmas cheer. It’s safe to say my party days are behind me, but the end of the year get-togethers fill me up with so much joy! This is usually the only time of the year when all of my family gather together in our grandmother’s place and spend every moment of the holiday season by each other’s side. I love that my grandmother’s house smells like cookies 24/7. I know the constant replays of the same song’s day after day from every speaker around my area can drive you mad, but I love seeing the joy on people’s faces.”

Oratile Malotle:

“I am really looking forward to spending time with my family and December time is always special because my daughter was born in this month, so every festive season brings a new age for her. December has always been family time for me and my loved ones so I can’t wait to see my cousins and other relatives so that we can celebrate this past year and all it brought – from the difficulties to the new opportunities that lie ahead of us in the New Year.”

Dazlynn Majiedt:

“Festive season is most definitely the best time of the year in our house. I have always loved Christmas time but my love for it amplified when I had children. Creating new traditions with them has been a joy. Seeing their excitement from when we put up the tree on the first of December in our house, to enjoying decorating Christmas cookies and watching Christmas movies. It’s also the time every kid is on their best behaviour, otherwise mommy or daddy will call Santa and you will be on the naughty list – just joking. Christmas is about family, spending it with the ones we love and, obviously, the big Christmas lunch. We use the time to catch up while cooking or baking, while listening and singing along to Mariah Carey’s ‘All I want for Chirstmas is you’. Happy Festive season – may you experience all the joy and love this season brings.”

Madaleen Olivier:

“This festive season I am looking forward to slowing down, reading and lounging next to the swimming pool while spending time with my family in my favourite place of all, our home in Bloemfontein.”

Lize Serfontein:

“I am looking forward to welcome young readers to Storie Huis for our holiday programme, together with spending some quality time with my family. Going for long walks, playing, and enjoying nature.”
