Feeling right at home with the Arts

After successfully launching in 2023, Hae Lapeng Concert, hosted by the Performing Arts Centre of the Free State (Pacofs), will be making its return on 30 March 2024 with a much bigger and broader headline.

Conceptualised and directed by theatremaker, playwright, poet, and producer, Napo Masheane, Hae Lapeng aims to bring a nostalgic sense to the audience who miss the feeling of being home.

The musical direction will be championed by musical magician, Bondo, while choreography will be spearheaded by dance and drama extraordinaire, Zane Muller, who are both amazing advocates for the home-ground talent of the Free State.

This year’s Hae Lapeng Concert aims to show a more industrial picture frame theme and a more classical look.

The line-up consists of Free State’s beloved Press who is loved and well-known for his hit, “Thojana Ya Thesele”. Tamara Dey will be making a comeback to the stage after performing at last year’s Hae Lapeng as well.

Some of the featured plays will include Elelloang starring Didie Makobane, and Woza Albert starring Ntokozo Dlamini from popular TV series, “Deep City” and Thulani Ntshweni, who acted in “Gomora”.

Audience members can look forward to two international artists, Jeniffer Johns and Damon Turner, who are well-seasoned artists and music producers marking their territory at Hae Lapeng, Pacofs.

Chief Executive Officer, Themba Dlamini, mentioned that Hae Lapeng is Pacofs’ signature project and flagship. “Hae Lapeng exhibits various performing art talent and serves as a knowledge generator in the form of producers and the actors thereof.

With time, Hae Lapeng will enter the space of documentary which, at some stage, communities across the Free State and globally would see as Pacofs’ game changer.”

The concert will take place on 30 March 2024 at Pacofs. Early bird tickets are available at Webtickets and Pacofs’ booking office for R150 per person.
