A suspect arrested with a large quantity of explosives in Kanana near Orkney in the North West has been denied bail upon his bail application appearance last week.
The suspect is still in police custody as the case has been postponed until the 3rd of September 2019 for further investigations. Hawks provincial spokesperson, Tlangelani Rikhotso, said they believe that they have a strong case against the suspect.
He is alleged to have created a bomb and gave it to an individual whom he paid R10 000 to bomb his family. The paid individual has turned state witness. Rikhotso told OFM News that the suspect has not made any comments regarding his knowledge about explosives at the moment. Rikhotso says police are currently conducting investigations regarding reasons behind the planned bombing.
