Mangaung Metro chief executive of the 2010 World Cup organising committee, George Mohlakoana, has been suspended for six months after failing to attend a course which cost the municipality R48 000.
This was revealed by Mangaung Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, following a special council meeting held in camera on Tuesday. An investigation looking into why he failed to attend the compulsory course is underway. Mangaung Metro Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, says Mohlakoana has not been found guilty of anything. The council is merely following municipal procedures.
Mlamleli said this was a fruitless expenditure. “He was given an opportunity. He is not yet guilty but because he has been at this institution for more than ten years, he’ll have an influence on the people that he’s working with. Therefore he must be suspended so that we can continue with the investigation.”
